What has been the influence of hip-hop lyrics in society changed since the 1980s?
This is basically a question about how hip hop lyrics that society is made from the time of groups like Public Enemy and LL Cool J rappers like today, where we have the likes of 50 Cent, Soulja Boy and Kanye West.
In my opinion, that the hip-hop lyrics in society is more common. In the 1980s, hop, hip-was seen as something new and different, which affects mainly the inner city well as they can relate or urban club because they were willing to dance with the most innovative music This is where letters of RUN-DMC, Kurtis Blow, Cool Moe Dee, Public Emeny, and LL Cool J's come into play. Now, going into the 90s era, hip-hop became more popular in catchy tunes, fashion statement, and the emergence of the genus was flashy and exciting, creating a greater audience and spread more wide. Most letters were love or dance. This is where you are from Salt-N-Pepa, Heavy D, Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, TLC, etc. Other songs are hip in hip-tended to lean more on a positive message, thus creating your Arrested Development, Pete Rock, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Common and The Fugees. Others leaned more toward the harsh reality of the streets. This is where your NWA, Tupac, Biggie, Snoop, Junior MAFIA, Dogg Pound, DMX, Master P, minors, etc. I think come during this time, society hip-hop looked like a constant roller coaster. Lyrics from this time affected the way they look at women, police, streets, money, love, etc., the influence hip-hop songs in society appeared twice in this era where the Gov't got involved when NWA said "F *% # of Police" and the contents lyrical album 2 Live Crew. This change made mainstream America look at the lyrics of hip-hop as something that could influence children in a negative way therefore the creation of the Parental Advisory sticker on the album now. Fast-Forward in 2000 and the present, the appeal of hip-hop is now larger it was before, which allows gender to affect everything from business and politics. When an artist names from a product in their rhymes, which affects his audience to buy or at least pay more attention to the particular subject or cluster. Name brands include Versace lyrics, coogi, Glass, Mercedes Benz, Gucci, Rose, Moet, Ace of Spades, Dolce Gabana @, Masarati, Lambo, Porsche, Covousier, Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, Hennesey, Skipper, Gray Goose, Bacardi, Jacob, G-Shock, Shuttershades, Oakley, Nike, Red Monkey, True Religion, Bentley, Ferrari. Today's letters also bring light to the society about vacation spots such as St.Tropez, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica, Bahamas, Brazil, Peru, Mandalay Bay.
