Citizen Cope, aka Clarence Greenwood singer-songwriter and his band to take the road in early 2009 for a series of dates throughout the South in the winter. Citizen Cope will stop at The National in Richmond, Virginia (January 30), The Lyric Oxford in Mississippi (Feb. 9), Bar-BQ/Waller Stubb's Creek Amphitheater in Austin (Feb. 14), Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, La. (February 21) and NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia (February 28), among other places. Cope is expected to release a new album solo acoustic before the end of the year, although no launch date has been concluded so far. Born Clarence Greenwood in Memphis, Tennessee, and started in the music business when he appeared on some albums of Maryland rapper Basehead, and 1993 was not in Kansas Anymore and 1996 is faith. Around this time, Citizen Cope released his debut album, Citizen Cope confusion. After his release, Greenwood donated a string of songs independently released several compilations such as 1997 in the level of sedimentation DC, 1999 Anti-Racist Action benefits and more in the new millennium. After an ink recording contract with Dreamworks in 2000, Greenwood published his debut full-length effort, Citizen Cope, in 2002. (Its current first album recorded in 1997, was never released by Capitol). The album generated promising songs like "If There's Love" and "Contact" and revealed Citizen Cope Clarence Greenwood or to be an unconventional artist definitely worth a listen. Greenwood was over contract issues, as they had no Dreamworks and mesh with the thinking of mishandled his record label, so he bought his contract with a deposit money with your soon-to-be-label Arista. Unfortunately, the saga continues as things label Arista did not pan out and jumped the label again, this time with RCA.
After jumping the label of a number of years, Clarence Greenwood moved to RCA and released The Clarence Greenwood Recordings in September 2004. One of the songs from the album, "Son's Gonna Rise", was used in a TV commercial for GM's Pontiac and The Clarence Greenwood Recordings made in at number 27 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. Other outstanding individual were "Bullet and a Target", "Pablo Picasso" and "Penitentiary." In 2006, still with RCA, Greenwood released each time. The album reached the Top 100 of Billboard 200 at number 69 and includes the songs "Brother Lee" and awe. "
In the same vein as artists like G. Love, Mat Kearney and Everlast, Clarence Greenwood is known for his penchant for blues and rock with slight hip hop trends. The singer / songwriter can confuse fans with his alter ego, but one thing is certain, their music is to attract fans of both blues and hip-hop crowds.
